To say that the little girls adore their big sisters would be an understatement.  The feeling is quite mutual. When we moved we got two 'girl rooms' and each big girl decided to take a baby girl, though very often all four of them end up huddled up into one of the rooms watching silly You Tube videos and talking til they can barely stay awake.  But oh those babies love every minute and oh those big girls love it even more. They are like real life dolls who giggle and shower them with appreciative kisses in return for all that attention.  

There is a lot of nail polishing and hair do-ing that goes on upstairs, particularly when little girls get frustrated or tired.  They very often will scoop one up as distraction and after they sit quietly for brushing and rolling or lotioning and painting of tiny fingers the upset is smoothed away and forgotten. Then there is a lot of "Go show Mom!"  

This was one of those days. Tess, beside herself, because Moira transformed her into their current favorite thing - Irish dancer.

While I sometimes remind the big girls that our babies are not aspiring to become Toddlers in Tiaras mostly I say nothing.  It really isn't about the 'before' and 'after'.  It is about the 'during'.  It is a show of that warm glow of devotion between both the bitty girl and her beloved big sister, in a happy place in life where there is no sibling rivalry but only the certainty of the bond between them.

Not having had a sister, and having just one little girl among boys, I can say the relationship your little girls have with their big sisters (and vice versa) is so very precious. I didn't really know girls until I was in a sorority in college -- because I don't think you can really know someone until you live with her. And I have to say I get along better with men today; I guess it's what my brain learned.

Your girls will have precious memories, and beautiful relationships all their lives. The photos are absolutely darling.

Beautiful child - sounds like a good idea to promote bonding between them, instead of just rooming the older girls together and the younger girls together. I'll have to keep that in mind for the future.

Beautiful post. Beautiful pictures. Beautiful girls. :o) My 16yodd and 5yodd share a room, too, and I love watching them together. When we fist moved the then-2yo in with her big sister, my grandmother said, "Poor Grace! She's not ever going to want to have children, she does so much taking care of the younger ones now..."

I do not think it works the way she thinks it works. :o)

Oh my goodness. Isn't she just angelic! My own Tess (now 2 years old) also is enamored of Irish step dancers...her big sister (14) dances and she is already prancing in the waiting area at the dance schoolo, waiting for her turn. :)
